33 years old and starting to struggle to stay fit, this challenge should help staunch the middle age spread but won't do anything to make him taller. Generally preferring to ride the surf than row over it, he's planning a celebratory surf on landing in Antigua after a brief visit to some local restaurants (to live up to the nickname, "Hungry Joe")!
Andrew Jordon-White
Will be 26 at the start of the race, far too active for his older brother's liking, and a serving army soldier who is more used to sand underfoot than water. A keen diver, has been known to take a nap on the sea floor after a particularly late night and is already planning celebratory drinks the moment he sets foot in Antigua.
We are brothers, competitive, and determined to complete the crossing through exhaustive preparation and an underlying drive to challenge ourselves physically and mentally.
The mental challenges have been well documented and a major part of this race, this will either bond us forever or make familly meals very interesting!.
On a more personal level, we're both quietly determined, subtley competitive. We tend to enjoy solo sports, pushing our personal limits whether it be running, skiing or surfing.
Our lives are very different with Andrew enjoying an "active" job, relaxing at the weekends and myself, at a desk during the week and itching to get outdoors by 7pm on a Friday. We hope our common interests and attitudes will help to conquer the personal challenge of taking part in this race, we'll train mentally as well as physically in the run up to the event.
