Charities & Donations

The Army Benevolent Fund:
The Army Benevolent Fund (ABF) is the Army’s national charity. For over sixty years the charity has worked tirelessly to provide financial and practical support to soldiers, former soldiers and their families in times of need.
As is well known, the British Army is stretched with commitments all over the world, support for the troops during and after active service has never been so high.

Donations & Incentives!
Apart from being able to donate on the "just giving" website listed on the left of the page, where all your donation is received by the charity directly, you can alternatively contribute directly to the project.
Direct donations will be spent 100% on getting us to the starting line, paying for equipment, training and entrance fee's. We are ultimately looking to cover most of these through sponsorship and any private donations over and above the cost of the project will be attributed to the charity donations.

To make things more interesting and so that there are more options to help us, we thought that the following little incentives might be fun!

1) Name emblazoned on the (possible) winning boat! *Closed*, names are already on the boat now! Many thanks to our parents who have finally conceeded that we are actually going to do this, to our mad sister (who's apparently taking part in the Indian Ocean crossing in 2009), to Laura Christie and to Mariska Lambrechts for their donations, and to Kieran and Chihiro Hobbs for their patience having a huge semi-painted boat outside their lovely house for so long! Many thanks also to Brett for his help and time. You'll all be getting a little something from Antigua.

2) Message in a bottle: We intend to drop a modern day 'message in a bottle' as close to the middle of the Atlantic that we can calculate. This will have our contact details on it and, in addition to their name on the boat, the number one private donor will recive a case of champagne when the message is found and we're contacted (much better odds that the lottery)!
